WIEN BALLROOM, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY – On Sunday, December 2nd 2007 Rhamim
(Rami) Shy and Ben Liang were commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the
United States Army. LT Shy is a 2007 graduate of Columbia’s School of
International and Public Affairs with a Masters Degree in International
Affairs. LT Liang is a 2007 graduate of Pace University with a Bachelors
Degree in Entrepreneurship. Both officers commissioned out of the Army ROTC
program at Fordham University. Fordham’s Professor of Military Science LTC
Randy Powell administered the oath of office. LT Shy received his first
salute from SFC Rex Loewen, a member of the Fordham ROTC cadre. LT Liang
received his first salute from SPC Li of the 69th Infantry Regiment. The US
Military Veterans of Columbia University, the Hamilton Society, and the
Columbia Alliance for ROTC sponsored the event. Following the ceremony, the
Columbia Alliance for ROTC hosted a reception at Radio Perfecto.
